Public invited to DeKalb County SPLOST open-house meetings in April

DeKalb County officials plan three meetings on successive nights during the second week of April to answer citizen questions about the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters last November.
The one-percent sales tax increase is expected to provide $388 million over a six-year period to fund road repaving, fire station construction, police vehicle purchases and repairs to infrastructure and county parks and recreation facilities.

The county says county officials and members of the SPLOST Citizen Oversight Group will attend the meetings to describe what work has been completed and what work is in progress. At each meeting, the county will show off a rapid response fire rescue vehicle and a new top-of-the-line police vehicle purchased with SPLOST funds.

The meetings are scheduled for:
- Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive.
- Wednesday, April 10, 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Central DeKalb Senior Center, 1346 McConnell Drive.
- Thursday, April 11, 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Lou Walker Senior Center, 2538 Panola Road.
