More late-night bars sought in central DeKalb

Two applications have been filed for Special Land Use Permits that would allow late-night establishments on Memorial Dr. and Rockbridge Rd.
One application is for a new restaurant and lounge proposed at 8002 Rockbridge Rd., right at the county line, in the Stonebridge Village shopping center next to the Georgia Division of Driver Services office. The application can be found at: http://bit.ly/2TzKj7b

The other application is for Dish Out, an African restaurant at 5231-A Memorial Dr. The application says "we are requesting to change our business format to a Stand Alone Bar." "There will also be hookahs available," the application states. The restaurant is in the Stonemont Village shopping center, next to the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church. The application can be found at: http://bit.ly/2EYq4pW

These applications are tentatively scheduled to be heard by the county's District 4 Community Council at its meeting on April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Covington Library. Community Councils are volunteer citizen panels that make non-binding recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding zoning applictions. The applications would then go before the county's Planning Commission and the Board of Commissioners in May.
